Why plan the whole year
Many Muslim charities raise most of their income in Ramadan and Dhul Hijjah, then go quiet. Donors who gave in Ramadan hear nothing until the next one. A year-round calendar keeps them close, spreads the work, and gives every appeal a warm audience.
Human Care International’s Ramadan 2026 report made the same recommendation: build content calendars around the moments of the Islamic year, with content ready two weeks ahead.
The moments in 2026–2027
- Winter appeals: October to February.
- Giving Tuesday: 1 December 2026.
- Ramadan: from around 8 February 2027, with the last ten nights from around 27 February.
- Eid al-Fitr and Zakat al-Fitr: around 9 or 10 March 2027.
- Dhul Hijjah and Qurbani: from around 7 May 2027. The first ten days are a second giving peak, with Eid al-Adha around 16 May.
- Islamic New Year and Ashura: Muharram begins around 6 June 2027, and Ashura falls around 15 June.
Islamic dates are estimates until the moon is sighted. Our giving calendar has a countdown to each one.
Match the ask to the moment
Each moment suits a different kind of giving: Zakat and nightly giving in Ramadan, Qurbani shares in Dhul Hijjah, fuel and warm clothes in winter, and Sadaqah Jariyah and waqf all year round. Match the ask to the moment, and the appeal explains itself.
Fill the months between
Between the big moments, keep supporters close with updates on what their gifts did, stories from the field, and a steady invitation to give monthly or to a lasting waqf. The quiet months are when trust is built for the next peak.
Have content ready two weeks ahead
Plan the year in one calendar, and have each moment’s creative ready at least two weeks before it starts. When the moon is sighted, you publish rather than scramble.
Checklist
- One calendar for the whole year
- An ask matched to each moment
- Creative ready two weeks ahead
- Updates planned between the peaks
- Monthly and waqf giving always open
Need a hand?
Faith-based giving has its own rules, seasons and questions. We build appeals that answer them clearly and make giving easy.
